John’s Awards and Special Recognition

The Morning Call Newspaper presented John on April 6, 1994 with a “Community Spirit Award.”

The Wildlands Conservancy presented John with their “Friend of the Lehigh River” award in 2002.

In 2004, John received the R. Emmet Doherty Clean Air Award presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Women’s Club of Allentown, and the American Lung Association.

In March 2005, Lehigh Valley Magazine recognized John as one of their “Movers & Shapers.”

In 2009, the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited presented the Dr. John A. “Doc” Fritchey, Jr. Award for the Outstanding Coldwater Conservationist Trout Unlimited Member.

The Delaware River Sojourn 2012 Steering Committee named John “Lord High Admiral” of the sojourn on June 28, 2012 for service and support in protecting the natural and cultural resources of the Delaware River.

Also, in 2012, John received the Environmental Partnership Award from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Environmental Partners whose members include PADCNR, PADEP, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, PPL, and others.

On June 26 of 2018, LMBT named the former PPL Tekening Trails after John.

In the July 11, 2018 PA DCNR newsletter, John was recognized for his conservation efforts in LMBT and Pennsylvania.
