Why I’m Running
“Developing and maintaining effective partnerships with residents, neighboring municipalities, and county stakeholders is essential to moving LMBT forward. Let’s continue the good work of saving our farmland, promoting environmental awareness, protecting our streams and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. Let’ s also focus on maintaining our roadways and keeping LMBT a safe, healthy and wonderful place to live.”
Past and Current Occupations
I retired after teaching secondary mathematics in public schools for thirty-five years. Twenty-eight years of teaching were at the Northampton Area School District. I have been appointed to the Lower Mount Bethel Township Board of Supervisors on two occasions to fill open positons on the Board of Supervisors. I did run unopposed for a two-year term for supervisor and served that term. I currently volunteer as Lower Mount Bethel Township’s grant administrator/project manager. I have managed numerous projects/land acquisitions with a combined value of well over three million dollars. In LMBT, I have worked to acquire 253 acres of Open Space for hiking, fishing, and hunting.
Experience
I have been very active in the conservation and natural resource fields for over forty years. I have partnered with numerous conservation organizations and/or agencies including: PA DEP, PA DCNR, PA Fish and Boat Commission, Northampton County Conservation District, Southeastern PA Resource Conservation and Development Council, Trout Unlimited, school districts, environmental advisory councils, and watershed organizations·. 1 have completed over twenty stream bank stabilization/fish habitat, trail development, and farmland improvement projects. My experience includes developing and presenting numerous educational programs, running conferences, writing grants and securing other sources of funding, defining projects, permitting projects, project management, and developing partnerships.
Affiliations and Partnerships
I am very active with Trout Unlimited, the Lower Mount Bethel Township Environmental Advisory Council, and the Martins-Jacoby Watershed Association. I help organize a regional EAC and watershed organization network in northeastern Northampton County which meets about four times per year. I led the effort to have Northampton County and Warren County (NJ) municipalities and other organizations become active partners in the Lower Delaware Wild and Scenic River. Currently, I serve as the chair of the Friends of Minsi Lake (FOML). The FOML is working on funding $3.4 million in upgrades to the Minsi Lake area. Also, I am currently an Associate Director for the Northampton County Conservation District.
Educational Background
I graduated from Northampton Area High School in 1965. In 1969, I graduated from Kutztown University with a BS in Secondary Education with mathematics major. I have completed over 30 hours of graduate credit courses. Over the years I taken numerous environmental courses and I have attended “too many to count” environmental seminars and/or conferences.
