HEALTH AND WELL- BEING

Every day the health and safety of communities are threatened. Municipalities have the right to protect their natural resources like healthy air and clean water. John and Susan will continue efforts to safeguard Lower Mt. Bethel Township residents’ rights, and will continue to work with the Township’s appointed Biosolids/Sludge liaison to ensure residents are informed and have a voice in securing a safe and healthy future.

PLANNING AND ZONING

Susan and John will continue to support and implement effective planning and zoning that reinforces the wishes of LMBT residents and neighboring communities to maintain our quality of life. Targeted issues include increased truck traffic, warehouses, loss of valuable farmland, and preservation of woodlands and critical habitats.

POLICE COVERAGE

John and Susan are dedicated to exploring all solutions that are realistic and effective, and that will not require extreme tax increases to implement or maintain.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The most significant responsibility the Board of Supervisors has is stewardship of the Township’s budget. The tax revenue received from the hard-working residents and property owners of LMBT deserves the highest level of financial vigilance and protection from wasteful spending. John and Susan both have decades of experience in budget management and oversight. In recent years, directly as a result of John’s expertise, LMBT has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funding to preserve valuable open space and recreation areas. From 2008 to the present, Susan’s expertise in budget evaluation, operational cost-cutting, and contract negotiation has reduced annual sanitation fees from a high of $310 to the current rate of $185, and has resulted in substantial reductions in the Township’s annual legal and engineering service expenses.

INTER-MUNICIPAL COOPERATION

As a steering committee member for the Slate Belt Multi-Municipal Plan, Susan is representing Lower Mt. Bethel Township as the municipalities and townships of the Slate Belt area work together with the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission to create a sustainable plan for the future. This will include a set of actions that will protect and preserve the existing desirable features in the Slate Belt region, and a well-reasoned strategy for preservation of natural features and farmland, a transportation plan, a parks and recreation plan, a historic resources plan, and a housing and development plan.
